Elusive Black Hole of Irony »

I have long since suspected it was possible, that the potential existed for an ironic singularity so powerful it could actually prevent any irony from escaping, thus creating a phenomenon known as a “Black Hole of Irony.”

Here, with the image above taken by a soldier in Iraq, I give you proof of concept.

This photo contains so much concentrated irony, that the ironic implications actually collapse in on themselves and cannot escape, thus rendering the image completely straightforward and with no double-meaning.

Make note of the contextual implications of my theory… had this photo been taken in America instead of an actual war-zone in Iraq, there would not have been enough ironic potential to cause a singularity, and therefore the image would have simply radiated massive amounts of irony.

Instead, due primarily to the context of the image and the purity of it’s ironic elements, the irony implodes with such force as to render the image utterly banal.

I encourage others to find examples of this elusive phenomenon.
